Enough is enough - getting rid of windows Vista in my life

And life of mine tx1000 x64 dual core laptop. One can write a book of Vista's annoying factors, so I'm only trying to share some expirience with installing Windows 2008 on my laptop.

Enable wifi:

Bluetooth:

http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/how-to-enable-bluetooth-in-windows-server-2008-64bit-standard-edition/ will be still quite cripple expitience though, so use the bellow to render it useful: http://www.dev-toast.com/2007/01/05/uncrippling-bluetooth-in-vista-rtm

Active sync:

download: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx Resolving possible missing desktop expirience feature:http://kbalertz.com/950169/Error-message-install-Windows-Mobile-Device-Center-computer-running-Windows-Server-update-could-installed-because-least.aspx

HP tx1000 x64 drivers:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&product=3446449
Starts much faster, runs ok and colder, , now only to persuade my wife that 8GB of RAM is a necessity :).

You're such a quitter :P
I don't mind shitty drivers: video driver is still crashing but Intel got it so improved at least is not crashing the whole vista any more; bluetooth, no need to mention that ...
I don't mind hard disk running constantly in the background - probably idle loop has to do some IO otherwise vista will crash

I have to tell you, once I got rid of McAfee (aka The Most Shittiest Thing That Was Ever Installed On My Machine) and installed Avast, my blue screen of death ratio dropped from once per day to once per month! And everything works a magnitude faster.

So now I can enjoy being more organized with Vista ;)

Btw, removing anything that has flashy brand and replacing it with lightweight variant (e.g. ditch Roxio, install CdBurnerXp) helped a lot - whatever is not using Vista UselessTM features runs 10 times faster.

And I don't buy this - swapping Vista for being shitty from you, you just want the latest OS, that's all. :P

I've been running w2008 for a day now. That was the first day I ran on batteries for 4 hours (Vista - 40 mins), with my laptop being a bit warm but very far from hot. And god I could be cooking an omelete when working on Vista!
I give you few more months, I believe you've been on Vista for 8-9 months now?

I'm on Vista for 10 months now and I am seriously considering Linux :)
Seriously, if I had Visual Studio on Linux I would've switched already.
